We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Customer Data Scientist on an 18-month secondment.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to help shape HSBC’s customer‑led strategy and influence how we use advanced analytics and AI to better understand and serve customers.

You’ll have the chance to build enterprise‑level data science capabilities from the ground up, working on a high‑profile initiative that directly supports strategic business decisions. Partnering closely with Analytics, Data Engineering, and business stakeholders, you’ll turn complex customer data into meaningful insights, predictive solutions, and measurable outcomes. In this role you will broaden your technical and commercial experience while playing a key role in delivering customer outcomes at pace.

In this role you will:

  • Apply advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to analyse customer data, identify trends, and uncover growth opportunities
  • Design, build and maintain predictive models, core datasets, dashboards, and analytical solutions to support business initiatives
  • Partner with technical teams to define data requirements, validate pipelines, and enhance data models for analytics use
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear compelling insights and recommendations for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Support robust data governance, quality, and documentation standards while proactively managing stakeholder relationships across the business

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Proven experience within data science, customer analytics, statistical modelling, or a similar analytical environment
  • Strong technical capability in Python and/or R, SQL, and machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow or scikit‑learn
  • Experience building predictive models end‑to‑end and applying statistical techniques to real‑world business challenges
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical concepts clearly and influence decision‑making through data‑driven insights
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment
