Pharmacy Director for Flow and Transformation – Band 8c

Pharmacy Grade Band 8c Contract Permanent: Fixed Term Hours Full time – 37.5 hours per week – Job ref 351-CS2907-MS – Site subject to negotiation – Town Blackpool – Salary £79,504 – £91,609 per annum – Closing 16/06/2026 23:59.

As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
  • Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
  • Extensive community physical health and well‑being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long‑term condition management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support medicines optimisation for inpatient long stay patients (≥60 days) in LSCFT Mental Health wards and Contracted Out of Area Placements (OAPS).
  • Support the Patient First Programme to embed evidence‑based pathways of care for psychosis and emotional dysregulation.
  • Deliver dedicated pharmacy input to key transformation programmes within the Trust.
  • Provide training to consultants and coach pharmacists to ensure prompt optimisation of medicines and evidence‑based care that delivers positive outcomes for patients.
  • Develop the team to become more research aware and research active.
  • Lead and manage pharmacy teams through change and foster continuous improvement.

Main duties of the job

Hybrid working: opportunity to work from home up to two days per week; requires flexibility and travel to different sites for workshops and transformation programmes.

Qualifications

  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in a clinical pharmacy role.
  • Clinical experience in general pharmacy settings (e.g., acute hospitals, community pharmacy).
  • Significant management and leadership experience at a senior level.
  • Experience leading and managing teams through change.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of community services.
  • Knowledge and implementation of clinical governance.
  • Knowledge of prescribing issues in mental health and community services.
