About the Role

Reporting to the PMO Manager in the Technology & Innovation department, the successful candidate will be a highly self‑motivated, results‑driven IT professional with a proven track record in delivering IT projects and programmes that meet business needs. The role involves managing a portfolio of business‑focused IT projects across 30 live projects, including key business improvements and refresh initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Senior level responsibility for Project Management.
  • Manage multiple high‑profile business and IT project deliveries from initiation through implementation and closure.
  • Manage third‑party vendors against agreed work packages.
  • Represent the projects/programme and its objectives in governance, compliance and regulatory forums.
  • Assess and report status of all projects/programmes objectively, maintaining transparency and accurate status; keep PMO manager and stakeholders informed.
  • Proactively identify, resolve and, as needed, escalade project/programme risks and issues to management and stakeholders.
  • Proactively plan staffing requirements and make dynamic adjustments to maximise resource efficiencies and achieve project results.
  • Accountable for understanding business objectives and ensuring the project/programme delivers them; drive adjustments to achieve desired business results more effectively.
  • Adapt and respond to changes both inside and outside the project/programme.
  • Predict risk areas, design mitigation/contingency strategies and execute them to avoid issues.
  • Lead across a wide variety of IT‑related project and programme types.
  • Liaise with internal customers to design functional enhancements and identify gaps.
  • Manage and report project/programme costs to management and stakeholders as needed.
  • Carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required from time to time.
  • Deliver projects/programmes using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot project issues to resolution with the project team.

Key Criteria – What You’ll Need

  • Extensive experience in delivering IT programmes and projects at a senior level, including multi‑million‑pound programmes.
  • Experience in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Extensive experience delivering multiple large programmes, including preparing and submitting budget proposals, monitoring and reporting on financial information.
  • Experience of managing third‑party suppliers.
