The Role

As an Accounting Course Leader with Westminster Adult Education Service (WAES) you will deliver Level 2 and 3 courses, monitor student engagement and progress, develop course files and the professional pathways curriculum, and support self‑assessment and development plans.

  • Monitor enrolment, retention, attendance, punctuality and progression, and initiate necessary interventions.
  • Conduct diagnostic assessment of students, identify individual needs, and refer to support colleagues when required; ensure learners have appropriate individual study plans.
  • Prepare course outlines, schemes of work and lesson plans, identify materials and equipment, teach tutorials, plan and schedule exams for Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) courses, and produce learner work assessments.
  • Ensure learners complete surveys that gauge their views; share good practice with other tutors.
  • Undertake training, keep up to date with curriculum developments in the subject area, and comply with all relevant Health & Safety regulations.
  • Promote equal opportunities policies in the classroom, throughout the syllabus and in all relationships with the organisation.

About You

  • Extensive experience delivering AAT qualifications and a strong knowledge of current AAT assessment processes and practice.
  • Skill to teach in online and one‑to‑one environments, and ability to use Mindful Education or a similar platform for delivery.
  • Working knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Highly collaborative, motivated team worker and creative problem solver.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Maths and English GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above; a recognised teaching qualification (PTLLS minimum).
  • Hold Level 4 Diploma for Accounting Technicians or NVQ/SVQ Level 4 in Accounting, or a Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies qualification.
  • Availability to work 28.8 hours per week; hybrid opportunities may be available, depending on the curriculum.
