Revenues Apprentice – Manchester City Council
Working hours: 35 hours per week.
Contract type: Permanent.
Working style: Hybrid – employees split their time between working remotely and on‑site.
The Council Tax Service in Manchester collects over £234 m annually to support public services. As a Revenues Apprentice you will contribute toward delivering high collection rates and excellent customer service while gaining accredited on‑the‑job training from the Institute of Revenues, Ratings and Valuations (IRRV). The role includes a 24‑month level 4 apprenticeship; successful completion of at least four units will see an annual salary increase to £29 064.
Practical information
- Legal Right to Work – must evidence right to work in the UK before commencement.
- Proof of Manchester Residency – must reside in Manchester unless an internal candidate.
- Reference – one reference, preferably 3 years history.
- Qualification – GCSE Maths and English at Grade 5 or equivalent.
- BPSS clearance – required prior to commencement.
- Apprenticeship – 24‑month level 4; requires study and completion of apprenticeship units.

- Communication skills – clear, concise, accurate communication.
- Analytical skills – absorb and assimilate moderately complex information.
- Problem solving and decision making – make effective daily decisions and explain reasoning.
- ICT skills – use multiple applications and systems.
- Administrative skills – literacy and numeracy for calculations and documentation.
- Maths and English GCSE at Grade 5 (or equivalent).
