The Role
This is a frontend leadership position for someone who wants to own architecture, set direction, and genuinely raise the bar across an engineering organisation. You will take control of a large-scale React ecosystem, drive best practice across multiple teams, and build experiences that matter to users.
It is a hands-on role with real strategic weight. You will work closely with Product, UX, and Backend, influence the long-term technical roadmap, and have a direct hand in how frontend engineering is done across the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and define frontend architecture and standards across the organisation
- Drive adoption of React and TypeScript best practice across multiple teams
- Build and scale component libraries and design systems
- Partner with Product and UX to deliver clean, intuitive interfaces
- Mentor engineers and contribute to the overall capability of the team
- Own performance, accessibility, and long-term maintainability of the frontend
- Work closely with backend teams on API design and integration
- Champion modern tooling, testing practices, and CI/CD
- Contribute to the technical roadmap and broader engineering strategy
What You’ll Bring
Essential
- Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript at scale
- A proven track record of frontend technical leadership in a commercial environment
- Deep understanding of state management, performance optimisation, and UI architecture
- Experience building or working closely with design systems (Storybook or equivalent)
- Solid knowledge of modern testing approaches: Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress
- A genuine interest in mentoring and developing engineers around you
- Comfortable operating across cross-functional teams, including Product and UX
Nice to Have
- Backend or full stack exposure
- Cloud experience, ideally AWS
- Experience in data-heavy or complex product environments
- Background in product-led organisations
