GI Medicine at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is undergoing a significant period of investment and transformation, supported by sustained funding. The service is expanding with substantial additions in clinical, nursing, allied health and administrative roles to build a stable, future‑proof workforce.
As part of this investment, we are looking to recruit a registrar (ST) level doctor to work in the department of Gastroenterology at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The successful candidate will support the Gastroenterology wards and out‑patient clinic activity and will be expected to work across Manchester Royal Infirmary, North Manchester General Hospital, Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General Hospital as part of a collaborative, cross‑site working ethos. The role will include occasional evening and weekend work on a rota basis, particularly to support endoscopy and elective services.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for the post of Locum Appointment for Services (LAS) in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine. The appointee will join a team of eight gastroenterologists within a dynamic, thriving department that provides gastroenterology and endoscopy services to South Manchester and beyond. The focus of the role is on endoscopy. The postholder will work alongside Consultants who provide tertiary endoscopy services, providing opportunities to acquire new skills in a supportive learning environment. The department provides a comprehensive and expanding endoscopy service, including diagnostic and therapeutic modalities such as EUS, capsule endoscopy, and a tertiary ERCP service. The appointee will also have the opportunity to attend endoscopy, ward rounds, and research. The investigator will be on a GIM on‑call rota and will have ample opportunity to acquire practical acute medical skills.
