Job Description:

The role joins a team of 32 consultant radiologists providing radiological services across Morriston, Singleton and Neath Port Talbot Hospitals, including the new Breast Radiology service at Singleton.

Responsibilities

• Competent in mammography reporting, breast and axillary ultrasound, image‑guided biopsy of the breast and axilla.

• Desirable experience in vacuum‑assisted biopsy/excision, pre‑operative localisation techniques, MRI breast reporting and contrast‑enhanced mammography.

• Participate in the Breast Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and conduct symptomatic breast assessment clinics.

• On‑call participation is not required but can be discussed; any on‑call activity is compensated with one session of programmed lieu time.

• Work on a 1 in 17 basis; may also participate in a duty radiologist rota for inpatient scanning at Morriston and afternoon duties at Singleton (optional).

• Home tele‑radiology is available with laptop and Citrix access or Swansea bay modem; can work remotely when approved.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the GMC
  • FRCR
  • On the Specialist Register with the GMC in Radiology or eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview date, having passed the exit exam or a statement of eligibility from PMETB, or a recognised specialist qualification from a European Member State allowing direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register
  • Licensed to practice
  • Teaching qualification or higher qualification in medical education

Experience

  • Experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff at all levels
  • Experience improving services in collaboration with management and clinical colleagues
  • Experience in teaching and training post‑graduate and undergraduate staff
  • Experience leading and completing audit projects
  • Experience in developing services and conducting research in radiology

Skills

  • Leadership ability to take responsibility and lead when appropriate
  • Understanding and application of Prudent Healthcare principles
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience using improvement science and methodology to enhance service quality
  • Clinical reporting skills – mammography, ultrasound, general CT, breast MRI
  • Capability to perform breast interventions and contrast‑enhanced mammography
  • Knowledge of information systems and technology
