Following the award of new long-term programmes, a global manufacturer of precision components supplied to sectors including aerospace, automotive and defence have a new vacancy for a Manufacturing Engineer. The role will play a key role in developing new manufacturing processes, ensuring daily productivity targets are met and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the plant. Candidates are sought who have a good understanding of precision machining processes and experience developing robust engineering solutions.
Overview
The role involves designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes; developing manufacturing capabilities; supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) with the Development Team; investigating root causes and implementing corrective actions; and driving continuous improvement across cross-functional teams to meet daily targets and improve KPIs.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes.
- Develop manufacturing capabilities.
- Work with the Development Team on NPI.
- Investigate root cause and corrective actions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product flow and continuous improvement.
- Support manufacturing areas to ensure daily targets are met.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, workflows, and technical specifications.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production issues.
- Monitor and improve KPIs such as throughput, downtime, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
- Identification and introduction of product/process improvements.
- Identify areas for improvement and lead cost saving projects.
Qualifications / The Person
- Proven experience working in a precision engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and drive change effectively.
- Experience of cost saving processes and procedures.
