A leading global technology-driven firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Platform Storage Engineer to join its expanding infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale, enterprise-grade storage platforms supporting mission-critical environments with demanding performance and reliability requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, building, and operating distributed storage infrastructure that supports rapidly growing compute and data environments across global operations. This role is ideal for someone passionate about large-scale storage systems, automation, performance optimisation, and modern infrastructure engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable distributed storage systems through automation, standardisation, testing, and monitoring
  • Architect and maintain high-performance storage platforms including NFS, GPFS, WEKA, object storage, and related technologies
  • Perform storage capacity planning, forecasting, and lifecycle management to optimise utilisation and efficiency
  • Analyse storage performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning and optimisation strategies
  • Develop and maintain automation tooling for provisioning, configuration management, and operational monitoring
  • Partner closely with compute, networking, and application teams to ensure storage solutions meet performance and reliability requirements
  • Improve observability, alerting, and incident response capabilities across storage environments
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging storage technologies, including cloud-based storage services
  • Ensure strong standards around data integrity, availability, backup, replication, and disaster recovery readiness
  • Maintain clear documentation for storage architecture, operational procedures, and support runbooks

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience within infrastructure engineering, with strong expertise in Linux and enterprise storage administration
  • Deep understanding of distributed storage systems and storage protocols such as NFS, GPFS, WEKA, Lustre, Ceph, or similar technologies
  • Experience with storage benchmarking, performance analysis, tuning, and optimisation
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible or Chef
  • Strong programming or scripting skills in Python, Go, Rust, or similar languages
  • Familiarity with modern engineering practices including CI/CD, version control, and agile delivery methodologies
  • Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Elasticsearch, Kibana, or similar
  • Exposure to cloud storage platforms and services across AWS and/or GCP environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with object storage platforms such as MinIO, Cloudian, or S3-compatible technologies
  • Knowledge of storage hardware technologies including NVMe, SSDs, disk arrays, HBAs, JBODs, and storage networking
