The Role
Provides the infrastructure for oversight, controls and management of related projects. Responsible for supporting (area/discipline/specialism), using sound technical/functional capabilities, and applying appropriate demand management. Advises the set up and governance of projects, including project scope, timelines, issues and risk as well as stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manages stakeholders.
- Delivers business related projects to time/cost/quality targets.
- Adheres to Project Management Office governance standards in relation to Project Management.
- Assesses and manages Project elements: risk, budget, scope, relevant change management and change control, reporting, key performance indicators (KPI’s) and benefit realisation.
- Partners with multiple internal and external stakeholders, working in collaboration to (implement strategy/programmes/initiatives).
- Builds and maintains project plans and budget, ensuring key milestones are identified, risks and issues logged and resources in place.
- Produces and maintains project documentation, status reports and associated collateral.
- Leads project team and working group meetings.
- Delivers stakeholder engagement and communications plans, building constructive stakeholder relationships across the business.
- Seeks opportunities for continuous improvements/improving working processes.
- Delivers continuous improvements in processes through application of best practices and lessons learned. Drives transformational change.
- Provides regular project status reports.
- Tracks project progress, escalating risks and issues.
- Collaborates with stakeholders/sponsors to ensure alignment and shared understanding of dependencies.
- Reviews post implementation of projects and ensures findings are applied in future projects.
- Provides performance management, technical & career development and coaching.
- Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Technical Competencies
- Experience in project management and internal consulting skills.
- Familiar with project management methodologies and able to coach others in their application.
- The ability to effectively plan, set priorities, and manage several complex projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate at all levels within the organisation.
- Strong business acumen and commercial awareness, to develop appropriate solutions.
Qualifications
- Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
- Extensive experience in the successful delivery phase of projects and programmes in the HS2 sector.
- Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
- Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
