More about the Team
The Commercial Office Finance Team is a core part of Group Support Services. We are looking to recruit a Commercial Financial Manager on a permanent basis.
More about the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our Commercial Ventures team, supporting Modular Wise (MW) and The Hire Place (THP), and play a key role in strengthening financial insight and decision-making across a growing commercial portfolio. This is not a traditional management accounting role. You will combine strong financial control with forward‑looking commercial insight, partnering closely with the MW and THP Managing Directors to improve performance, drive better decisions and support growth. The role also offers a significant opportunity to work closely with the Finance Director to shape how finance supports the wider commercial businesses – enhancing reporting, processes and decision‑making at pace.
At Places for People, a basic DBS check is mandatory.
More about You
You are a qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with a strong track record in senior finance roles. You are not just technically sound – you are a builder of teams, systems and processes, and you thrive in environments where you can make things better, faster and smarter. Experience in management and statutory reporting, in addition to strong Excel skills, is highly essential.
The Successful Candidate Will Have:
- Proven experience leading and developing high‑performing finance teams
- Experience embedding new systems and automating processes reliant on complex, large volume data sets typical of FM environments (VBA and/or Python preferred)
- A proactive, commercially aware mindset with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
- Strong technical accounting skills, including audit preparation and balance sheet control
- A successful track record as a Financial Manager or equivalent senior role
- A professional accounting qualification (e.g. CCAB)
Benefits
- Competitive salary, with a salary review yearly
- Pension with matched contributions up to 7%
- Excellent holiday package – up to 35 days annual leave with the option to buy or sell leave
- Cashback plan for healthcare costs – up to 500 saving per year
- A bonus scheme for all colleagues at 2%
- Training and development
- Extra perks including huge discounts and offers from shops, cinemas and much more.
