Role Overview
Fantastic Grade 1 Ofsted 11‑18 School seeks a Science Tutor to support students most in need via the National Tutoring Program. The position involves inspiring, motivating, and increasing attainment and participation in core science subjects.
Responsibilities
- Work with school staff to identify and select students for mentoring.
- Discuss aims of mentoring with pupils and agree on action plans.
- Provide support to pupils inside and outside of the classroom.
- Make occasional home visits to talk to parents about challenges and offer advice on strategies.
- Liaise with schools, teachers, social workers and educational psychologists, making referrals where appropriate.
- Aide pupils in the transition to secondary education.
- Help pupils increase confidence and self‑esteem by listening and devising appropriate strategies.
Qualifications
Science graduate or science teacher required. Candidates should be passionate about working with young people and desire to mentor on a 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 basis, focusing on raising attainment, participation, confidence, and self‑esteem.
