Labourer Driver

Location: Skelmersdale, WN8 9TW

Salary: £14.17 per hour, paid fortnightly. Excellent benefits.

Contract: Full time, Permanent

As a leader in residential decarbonisation, energy efficiency, and whole‑house retrofit, SBS manages and delivers over £100 m+ large‑scale retrofit schemes, blending funding across mixed tenures to maximise positive impact across communities.

Job Summary

You will play an essential role in supporting day‑to‑day site activities, ensuring work progresses safely, efficiently and to a high standard. This role involves general labouring duties combined with driving responsibilities and requires a strong commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare construction sites by clearing, tidying, and setting up work areas
  • Load, unload, move, and transport materials and equipment
  • Assist skilled tradespeople by providing tools, handling materials, and supporting tasks as required
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and site rules at all times
  • Carry out manual handling tasks safely and responsibly
  • Support the smooth day‑to‑day operation of sites as directed by management

Qualifications

  • Valid CSCS Card
  • Full UK driving licence, clean, held for a minimum of 2 years
  • Manual Handling training or willingness to complete
  • At least 1 year’ experience in a general labouring or construction environment
  • Strong health and safety awareness
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety‑conscious attitude

Desirable

  • First Aid qualification
  • Knowledge of construction materials and tools
  • Previous experience working with skilled trades
