Section Engineer – Civils Infrastructure

Permanent | Location: Glasgow (Central Belt) | Salary: £44,000 – £54,000 DOE | Ref: GR1536

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate engineering activities within your section, ensuring accurate execution of design, installation, and testing works.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, method statements, and approved plans to inform on‑site delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and support to site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve technical/engineering issues promptly, escalating where appropriate.
• Ensure all activities adhere to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in line with company and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and verification of workmanship against specification.
• Assist in preparation and review of risk assessments, method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and compliance documentation.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar capacity for another civil engineering contractor.
• Ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
• Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
• Willingness to mentor and develop site staff.
• CSCS card.
• SMSTS certification.
• Good knowledge of health and safety in construction.
• Degree/HND in civil engineering is preferred.
