Overview
The AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for delivering infrastructure projects across Water Infrastructure, Defence, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations), and Urban Developments. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our North, Scotland, and Northern Ireland practice, based in Newcastle. This role offers the opportunity to take responsibility for projects from inception to completion in a highly regarded consultancy.
Your role
- Deliver project management and contract administration through the project life cycle, ensuring common understanding of requirements, scope, programme, costs, constraints, risk and interfaces.
- Lead the project team: build, motivate, coach, and develop staff while maintaining effective client communication.
- Deliver governance arrangements in line with corporate and business policies to ensure robust outcomes.
- Priorise safety, manage projects within agreed budgets, and ensure compliance with AtkinsRéalis values.
- Manage risk and opportunity, administer and negotiate change control, and oversee approved sub‑contractor procurement processes.
- Monitor and report project performance against programme, quality, financial and KPI targets internally and externally.
- Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers and other team members.
- Deliver projects in accordance with AtkinsRéalis Values: Safety, Integrity, Collaboration, Innovation, and Excellence.
About You
- Engineering background with experience in design management, project management, and contract administration.
- Experience in a Project Management position, managing design projects from inception to completion.
- Familiarity with multi‑disciplinary design teams.
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, flexible, and adaptable to challenges.
- APM PMQ (or equivalent) recognised level of competence in Project Management – desirable.
- Experience with construction contracts, especially NEC3 or 4 or bespoke forms.
- Strong client‑facing and customer service skills.
- Ability to lead a delivery team confidently and with the appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude.
