Overview

Malton, North Yorkshire | Hybrid Working • £35.26 – £47.88 per hour (Umbrella) – 37 hours per week • 12-Month Contract | 4 days per week (only 2 on site / 2 from home)

Ceto Talent are supporting a major UK industrial infrastructure programme in the search for a Senior Project Engineer to join a complex nuclear engineering project based in Malton, North Yorkshire.

This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within a highly regulated environment, supporting the development and delivery of engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering fit-for-purpose engineering solutions, ensuring robust technical governance, configuration control, and compliance with engineering standards.

Responsibilities

  • Identify project functional requirements and stakeholder needs for assigned projects
  • Manage engineering support activities across project delivery phases
  • Contribute to Project Execution Plans including design, safety case and commissioning strategies
  • Support project optioneering and concept design development
  • Develop fit-for-purpose engineering solutions for complex project and produce and approve technical specifications
  • Manage detailed design activities in line with design authority standards
  • Prepare engineering modification proposals where required
  • Conduct technical assessments and approvals of contractor documentation (method statements, work instructions, risk assessments)
  • Provide technical supervision of construction and deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent
  • Review and approve as-built drawings
  • Specify and oversee commissioning or decommissioning activities
  • Manage project handover to operations, ensuring documentation and training requirements are completed
  • Liaise with system engineers and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle and maintain configuration control across the project lifecycle
  • Support continuous improvement across health, safety, environment and quality practices on site

Experience Required

  • Significant experience in a practising engineering role within industrial plant environments (Mechanical, Electrical, C&I or Civil)
  • Strong background in complex engineering project delivery
  • Experience supporting projects in highly regulated environments
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and technical governance processes
  • Experience with risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • Understanding of construction design and management responsibilities
  • Contract management experience within engineering projects

Qualifications

  • HNC or equivalent engineering qualification (Level 5)
  • Degree level qualification (Level 6) desirable
  • Membership of a relevant professional engineering institution
  • Chartered status desirable

Working Pattern

  • 4 days per week total
  • 2 days office / 2 days site – 2 days from home
  • Working hours: 07:25 – 17:00
