Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Legal Aid Solicitor to join our team. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of publicly funded family law matters, providing high-quality legal advice and representation to clients, often in sensitive and complex circumstances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of family law matters under legal aid, including domestic abuse, child arrangements, care proceedings, and injunctions
  • Provide clear, practical, and empathetic legal advice to clients
  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including advocacy where appropriate
  • Prepare legal documents, statements, and applications in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and maintain accurate case records
  • Meet billing and performance targets in line with firm expectations
  • Liaise with courts, counsel, experts, and external agencies
  • Maintain high standards of client care and confidentiality

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a current practising certificate
  • Experience handling family legal aid matters
  • Strong knowledge of Legal Aid Agency rules and procedures
  • Excellent advocacy and drafting skills
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality client care

Desirable

  • Family Law Accreditation (e.g. Law Society Family Panel)
  • Advocacy experience in family courts
  • Experience in care proceedings
