Senior Credit & Political Risk Underwriter

My client is an international Insurance firm. This role is based in the City of London with hybrid working flexibility (3 days in the office and 2 working from home).

The Senior Credit & Political Risk Underwriter position is ideal for someone with experience in structured and project finance looking for a strategic and senior underwriting role within a collegiate and dynamic global team.

Role Responsibilities

• Underwrite the Credit and Political Risk Insurance account in accordance with the underwriting guidelines, pricing tools and business plan.
• Externally promote the business to brokers and clients, creating a network of supporting brokers and clients, providing opportunities within appetite and also responding and developing new opportunities as they are presented.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the accounts.
• Review and develop new market products, both in-house and from the market, liaising with Operations, Legal, Compliance and Home Office.
• Establish and develop key client relationships; primarily banks and public agencies, and some select other clients, as well as key broking partners.
• Work with local leadership team to develop knowledge and make a leading contribution to specific tasks including marketing, portfolio development, current and new client evaluation and product innovation.
• Identify new business opportunities and growth areas.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong first-hand, in-depth working knowledge of Political and Credit Risk markets.
• Strong established business relationships with London and global market brokers and clients.
• Experience in structured and project finance.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent working experience and related qualification such as ACII/FCII/CFA.
