The Team
Our client’s Construction Group advises on complex development projects and high-value real estate transactions. They work closely with specialists across construction disputes, real estate, planning, finance, corporate and tax.
Job Description
Core responsibilities include:
- Acting for a range of clients including developers, landlords, investors and funders
- Advising on the construction aspects of real estate, finance and corporate transactions
- Supporting with due diligence, including the preparation of reports and managing enquiries
- Assisting with agreements for lease and forward funding arrangements
- Supporting pre-dispute matters, including risk management and early-stage strategy
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of precedents and internal know-how
- Assisting with the drafting and negotiation of key construction documentation, including:
- Building contracts (JCT and NEC), Consultants’ appointments, Collateral warranties and third-party rights, Letters of intent, Parent company guarantees and performance bonds
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 2–5 years’ PQE in non-contentious construction
- Strong technical grounding in construction law and standard form contracts (JCT, NEC)
- Experience advising developers, investors or lenders across sectors such as commercial offices, residential, retail or student accommodation
- Exposure to the construction elements of real estate or finance transactions
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with attention to detail
- Commercially minded with the ability to deliver practical, solutions-focused advice
- Able to manage workload effectively and work to tight deadlines
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and stakeholder management ability
- Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
