Drainage Engineer Van Pack

Position: Van Pack Drainage Engineer

Location: Millbrook Depot (Southampton), once competent you will work from door to door.

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week

Salary: £30,500 per annum

About the role

We are looking for a van pack drainage engineer to join our Utility Division and support the Southern Water contract service, delivering effective solutions to waste‑water network and drainage issues.

  • Travel to residential sites in a van and use a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
  • Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
  • Record each job report correctly on specialist equipment.
  • Run diagnostics and repair drains.
  • Deliver good customer service.
  • Maintain good H&S practice while carrying out works.
  • Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
  • Comply with health and safety responsibilities (PPE, safe site set‑ups, lone worker system).
  • Use VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
  • Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, using correct PPE.
  • Dynamically risk‑assess site access and working conditions on arrival.
  • Liaise with the client regarding progress and updates.
  • Provide support to colleagues.
  • Inspect tools, equipment and plant before/after use.
  • Report defects or malfunctions in relation to training.
  • Carry out risk assessments and adopt a mature approach to risk perception.
  • Adhere to all Lanes Group policies and responsibilities.
  • Perform any other reasonable ad‑hoc duties requested by management.

Full Training Given

All training, PPE and company equipment will be provided to ensure that our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency, and confidence to undertake work to Lanes’ high standard of operation.

About you

The ideal candidate will be hardworking, respectful, and compliant with health and safety standards. Experience with high pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and Confined Spaces) are an advantage.

You must have a full UK driver’s licence.
