About the Role

As Team Leader, you’ll be at the heart of the home — leading with confidence to create a space where children feel safe, understood and able to thrive. You’ll support and guide your team to deliver high‑quality, child‑centred care, ensuring every care plan is implemented in a way that reflects each young person’s needs and individuality.

Working closely with families and professionals, you’ll help shape the right support around each child while taking on key responsibilities such as safeguarding, overseeing daily operations and deputising in the Registered Manager’s absence.

You’ll contribute to rota planning, maintain accurate records and ensure the home meets all regulatory requirements. You’ll also take responsibility for the smooth running of the service, fostering a positive team culture where staff feel supported, valued and motivated. By promoting strong communication, teamwork and continuous learning, you’ll help your team grow while maintaining the highest standards of care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct line management to the residential staff team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Oversee care planning and key documentation, including progress tracking, risk assessments, incident reports and daily records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the development of the staff team through training opportunities, regular supervision, and effective multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Lead shifts and work alongside the Registered Manager to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Work towards achieving positive outcomes for children and young people, contributing to strong external inspection results, and deputising for the Registered Manager when required.

About the Service

Our Chesterfield service is a brand‑new residential home, and we’re bringing together a caring, enthusiastic team to welcome up to four children and young people aged 6–18. This is a truly special chance to be part of something from day one — helping to shape the home’s atmosphere, routines and sense of community.

It’s a fully accessible home designed specifically for children with learning and physical disabilities. Every part of the home has been thoughtfully created to feel warm, welcoming and genuinely homely and a place that celebrates each child’s strengths, interests, personality and growing independence, not just their needs.

We’re committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every young person feels safe, supported and able to grow in confidence and independence. This is more than a service; it’s a home where children can thrive and where your contribution truly matters.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or be willing to work towards and complete it within two years.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising a team within a care environment.
  • Background in residential children’s services or short break provision.
  • Confident in using IT systems to maintain accurate, clear, and compliant records.
  • Strong understanding of Ofsted standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Solid knowledge of safeguarding, GDPR, and relevant legislation governing children’s residential care.
