Role Description This is a full-time Assistant Quantity Surveyor role based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with a hybrid working arrangement that allows some work from home. The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support senior team members in preparing cost plans, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for a variety of property and development projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with cost estimates, measurement and valuation of works, cost reporting, and supporting procurement and tender evaluations. The role will also involve helping to monitor project budgets, tracking variations, updating financial forecasts, and contributing to clear, accurate project documentation. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Qualifications
- Strong foundational skills in cost management, including Cost Control and Cost Management, with the ability to support accurate budgeting and financial tracking.
- Practical experience or training in Cost Planning and Cost Reporting to assist in preparing forecasts, updates, and project financial summaries.
- Ability to work with BOQ (Bills of Quantities), including measurement and quantification of works for estimates and tenders.
- Working knowledge of construction and property project lifecycles, with an interest in development and cost consultancy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software; familiarity with quantity surveying or cost management tools is an advantage.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Degree (or working toward a degree) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline; progress toward relevant professional accreditation (e.g., RICS) is beneficial.
