Senior Portfolio Engineer, Fixed Income ETFs / Index Investments – London

About DWS: DWS is a global asset manager that integrates research and market expertise. The Passive Portfolio Management Team manages a broad range of X‑trackers across equity and fixed‑income ETFs, as well as segregated mandates, providing clients exposure to diverse benchmarks and ESG themes.

Role Details

As a Senior Portfolio Engineer you will:

  • Carry out daily management of the Fixed Income ETFs and index portfolios via portfolio construction and trade implementation.
  • Support the management of client flows efficiently, negotiating in‑kind baskets with APs.
  • Manage investment and risk exposures, determining optimal hedging strategies where applicable.
  • Determine optimal portfolio strategy to minimise tracking error to index, ensuring trading accuracy across corporate actions and cash flows.
  • Work closely with trading desks to determine optimal execution strategies.
  • Contribute to new and existing product development and process enhancement.
  • Work with the team to enhance the platform with a focus on performance and automation.
  • Oversee the Net Asset Value, portfolio composition file reconciliations and performance attribution analysis.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for:

  • Sound financial markets knowledge with exposure to Index, Synthetic or Delta‑one derivative instruments preferred; broader experience across Fixed Income, FX, Rates also considered.
  • Experience from Portfolio Management, Structuring, Trading or Index Research background, with knowledge around portfolio construction, performance & attribution, and related ETF servicing.
  • Knowledge of index methodologies from key providers including FTSE, Bloomberg, Iboxx, JPM, etc.
  • Strong quantitative programming skills, including Python; additional languages such as VBA beneficial.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications and capability using Bloomberg, Aladdin, and optimisation systems like Barra BPM, Bloomberg Portfolio Management.
  • Bachelor’s degree level education or equivalent qualification/relevant work experience.
