Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The postholder will be expected to participate in departmental weekend, bank holiday and late duty working as required. At the time of advertising, new post holders are required to work 1 in 4 weekends (1 full day or 2 half days). The current working hours are either 7am-3pm or 8am-4pm. Training and qualifications
Essential criteria
- BTEC/NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical services or equivalent
- General Pharmaceutical Council registered Pharmacy technician
- Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (Accredited scheme or evidence of in-house validations).
Desirable criteria
- Medicine Management Assessments or Validations (Accredited or proof of in-house training)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of completing medicines optimisation tasks, predicting stock usage, adapting stock levels and non-stock requests.
- Proven knowledge and experience in using computer labelling and stock control systems within hospital pharmacy
- Can demonstrate that they can work on their own initiative but know limits of their authority and knowledge.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in all core aspects of hospital pharmacy
- Previous experience of line management responsibilities
Communication and relationship skills

- To communicate effectively, clearly and concisely complex or sensitive information relative to medicine management back to patients, staff and colleagues
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a wide range of staff and patients
