SGO Assessment Social Worker – Stockport
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated SGO Assessment Social Worker to join our team in Stockport.
This is a focused assessment role responsible for undertaking Discharge of Care Order (CO) Special Guardianship Order (SGO) Assessments for Kinship Foster Carers. The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering high-quality, timely assessments and developing robust support plans.

Responsibilities:
- Complete Discharge of Care Order SGO Assessments for Kinship Foster Carers
- Produce clear, analytical, and evidence-based assessment reports
- Develop and finalise SGO Support Plans tailored to family needs
- Work collaboratively with children’s services and fostering teams
- Maintain accurate and compliant case records
To be considered for the role, ideally you will have:
- Recognised Social Work Qualification
- Social Work England registration
- 3 + years social work experience
- Experience completing SGO assessments / court-related work
- Strong assessment, analysis, and report-writing skills
- Ability to manage a dedicated caseload independently
