The City of Doncaster Council is expanding across their Residential Services, supporting children with disabilities, complex health needs and emotional or behavioural difficulties.

About the role

As a Residential Child Care Officer, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, stable and nurturing home for children and young people. Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll:

  • Provide day-to-day care that meets each child’s emotional, social and physical needs
  • Build positive relationships and act as a consistent, trusted adult
  • Support young people who may display complex or challenging behaviours
  • Advocate for those in your care and promote their independence
  • Support children with activities, education and community involvement
  • Keep accurate records and follow the home’s policies and Statement of Purpose
  • Participate in sleep-ins and work as part of a structured rota

Salary: £28,132 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent, full and part time

Hours: Full Time, 37 hours per week & Part Time, 18.5 hours per week roles available.

About You

You don’t need previous residential experience — we welcome applications from those with experience supporting young people.

We’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Passionate about working with children
  • Calm, resilient and able to work within a rota including unsocial hours
  • Excellent communicators with strong interpersonal skills
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting children’s welfare
  • Willing to undertake all required training
  • Level 3 TQUK Diploma in Residential Childcare (mandatory within 2 years)
  • Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure is required for appointment to this post
