Plant Fitter

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Fitter to join a busy engineering operation. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled maintenance professional with experience working on heavy plant, lifting equipment and specialist machinery.

The role will involve maintaining, servicing and repairing a range of plant and lifting equipment, ensuring machinery remains safe, compliant and available for operational use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned maintenance, servicing and inspections on plant and lifting equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
  • Prepare equipment for statutory inspections, including LOLER examinations.
  • Attend customer and operational sites to carry out repairs and breakdown support when required.
  • Work in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, risk assessments, Health & Safety requirements, DVSA standards and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection and repair records.
  • Support third-party inspections and statutory examinations.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised workshop.
  • Manage parts, tools and consumable stock effectively.

About You

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant Maintenance, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Plant Operations for servicing forklift trucks.
  • Previous experience maintaining heavy plant, cranes, lifting equipment or similar machinery.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding skills.
  • Good understanding of LOLER and PUWER requirements.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel to site when required.
