Real Estate Finance Associate

We are seeking a talented and commercially minded Real Estate Finance Associate to join a leading real estate and banking practice. The successful candidate will advise a broad range of lenders, borrowers, investors, developers and corporate clients on complex real estate finance transactions across multiple asset classes.

This role offers exposure to high-value domestic and cross-border transactions, working alongside experienced partners and senior lawyers in a collaborative and ambitious environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising lenders and borrowers on a wide range of real estate finance transactions.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating finance documents, security documentation and ancillary agreements.
  • Supporting acquisition finance, development finance, investment finance and refinancing transactions.
  • Conducting due diligence and coordinating transaction workstreams with colleagues across real estate, corporate and tax teams.
  • Managing transaction processes from inception through to completion.
  • Liaising directly with clients, financial institutions, agents, surveyors and external counsel.
  • Assisting with business development initiatives, client relationship management and thought leadership activities.
  • Supervising and mentoring trainees and junior lawyers where appropriate.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent common law jurisdiction).
  • Typically 2–6 years’ post-qualification experience in real estate finance, banking or property finance.
  • Strong technical knowledge of finance and security documentation.
  • Experience acting on lender and/or borrower-side transactions.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and project management skills.
  • Commercially focused with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong academic background and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a team.
