Band 5 Civilian Dental Hygienist – Part Time

We are looking for a part‑time dental hygienist to deliver high quality, patient‑focused care across Defence Primary Healthcare sites.

Working Hours

21.5 hours per week, flexible where possible.

Typical schedule: Monday & Wednesday 8 AM – 5 PM (including 1‑hour lunch), Friday 8 AM – 1:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Provide dental treatment, oral hygiene instruction and education to Defence personnel.
• Administer clinical and administrative support at other DPHC sites or health fairs as required.
• Contribute to enhancing force generation and operational capability by minimising dental morbidity.

Person Specification

Experience

• Full UK driving licence.
• Current practice as a registered dental hygienist.
• Indemnity cover for general dental practice.
• Currency with GDC CPD requirements.
• Confidence in using information technology.

Registrations & Memberships

• General Dental Council (GDC) membership number.
• For candidates nearing qualification completion, you must obtain GDC membership before starting.
• Include details of any current, spent or impending restrictions to practice.

Qualifications

• GDC-approved Certificate/Diploma in Dental Hygiene or BSc (Dental Therapy).
• Current full GDC registration.

Salary

£31,049 to £37,796 per year pro‑rata. Pay award pending.
