Support Worker – Askern

Role Overview

Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our team in Askern, Doncaster. Candidates must hold a full UK driving licence as we provide mobility vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily activities, personal care, medication administration, finances, and activities to meet individual goals.
• Provide emotional support and foster independence for people with learning, physical, mental health or communication needs.
• Build trusting relationships with supported people, including maintaining open communication and conflict‑resolution.
• Respond to emergencies and safely drive mobility vehicles when required.
• Maintain accurate records and report information as required.

Required Skills and Qualities

• Genuine passion for supporting others and a positive, empathetic attitude.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build meaningful relationships.
• Patience, understanding, and conflict‑resolution techniques.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Manual driving licence holder.

Working Hours & Pay

• Part‑time: 30 hours per week.
• Full‑time: 37.5 hours per week.
• Shift times: Days – 07:00‑22:00.
• Paid sleep‑ins at £64.20 per sleep.
• Flexible weekend coverage on rota basis.
