PSV/HGV Dayshift Mechanic – Caledonia

Bus Mechanic – Responsible for diagnosing & repairing buses in Caledonia Depot, Glasgow.

Location: Caledonia Depot, 100 Cathcart Road, G42 7BH.

Contract: Permanent, 37 hours per week (overtime available).

Shifts: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm.

Pay: £20.50 per hour plus bonuses.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
• Identify vehicle faults and specify appropriate repair methods and parts.
• Carry out routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable.
• Attend on‑road vehicle breakdowns and recoveries when required.
• Conduct vehicle road testing to identify defects following remedial repair.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum Level 3 NVQ/SVQ (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair – PSV/HGV preferred.
• Flexible approach to work with ability to multi‑skill.
• UK driving licence holder; PCV licence desirable (training available).
• Experience: Bus mechanics, HGV experience, light vehicle mechanics, ex‑forces with engineering apprenticeship or engineers from other sectors seeking change.
• Willingness to use handheld data capture devices.
