Job Summary
As a Maintenance Assistant within the acute hospital building team, you will work closely with the joinery/building team to ensure the safety, functionality, and compliance of hospital infrastructure, supporting high‑quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Independently carry out routine, non‑routine and emergency building maintenance, including minor repairs, assembly and dismantling.
- Plan and prioritise daily tasks to address technical and safety issues that could impact hospital operations.
- Assist senior team members with complex repairs, new installations and infrastructure improvements.
- Accurately record maintenance activities in the Works Management System to ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
- Support building surveys for future maintenance and upgrades.
- Operate hospital‑approved vehicles and equipment safely.
- Mentor and induct new staff, contributing to a skilled and flexible workforce.
- Adhere to infection control, health and safety standards and Trust policies.
- Carry communication devices for rapid response to urgent requests and emergencies.
- Undertake any other building‑related duties assigned to maintain smooth hospital operations.
