Job Description:

Day & Night Shift: Working 37.5 hours per week (12hour shifts) 07:45 – 19:45 / 19:45 – 07:45 on a rota with weekends included.

Located in the picturesque town of Melton Mowbray on the Leicestershire border, Priory Hospital is a 50-bedded residential service, providing care and treatment for people with mental health conditions to longer-term community care. The service has 3 wards and plans to open the first ward by January 2026 as a 26 bed residential care service for working age adults with ongoing mental health conditions who require support in the community.

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you’ll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.

As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
  • Empathy, understanding and patience
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
  • The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
  • Competent in verbal and written English
  • A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential
  • Right to work in the UK
