We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Teaching Fellows at our Glasgow Dental Hospital and School, the major dental referral and teaching centre in the West of Scotland. Job Purpose
To deliver high‑quality clinical and pre‑clinical teaching and supervision for undergraduate dental students, primarily in restorative dentistry, with flexibility to support teaching in oral surgery or paediatric dentistry as required. The postholder will also contribute to student assessment, feedback, and delivery of clinical excellence within the Dental School’s teaching clinics and outreach facilities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and deliver clinical and pre‑clinical teaching for undergraduate dental students (≈80–90 students a year) alongside experienced colleagues.
- Provide dental treatment for clinic patients requiring emergency management or completion of treatment when students are not available.
- Participate in assessment activities for undergraduate students in line with the teaching objectives of the Dental School.
- Provide effective, timely and constructive feedback to students, including on the longitudinal continuous assessment digital platform.
- Assess newly referred patients for suitability for treatment by a dental student.
- Provide cover for clinical teaching in outreach facilities as required, ensuring consistent educational and clinical standards.
- Promote and uphold the values, professionalism and patient care standards expected within a dental teaching environment.
- Participate in relevant meetings, training sessions and activities to align with the school’s educational strategy.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge / Qualifications
- Essential: Full registration as a dentist with the UK General Dental Council.
- Desirable: FDS or MFDS from one of the Surgical Royal Colleges, or equivalent.
- Certificate in Academic Practice or an equivalent learning and teaching qualification.
- Experience as a Dental Vocational Trainer.
- Postgraduate qualification in restorative dentistry or any restorative monospecialty.

- Minimum of 4 years post‑qualification with significant clinical experience.

Terms and Conditions
- Salary to be on the Speciality Dentist/Doctor Pay Scale (£52,812 – £99,975 per annum pro‑rata).
- Honorary clinic contract will be arranged through NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
- Post is open‑ended; we aim to appoint 2–3 individuals working 1–3 days per week, preferably at least 2 days (four sessions per week, 3.5 hours each).
