Job description
MK College Group is seeking a versatile and committed Art Tutor to join our education team at HMP Fosse Way. The current working pattern for this role is Mon-Fri mornings.
As an Art Tutor, you will engage prison-based learners with clear explanations, creative resources, and inclusive teaching strategies. Many learners have varied starting points have a diverse range of needs and may have had negative experiences of education in the past. Your role is to inspire confidence, rebuild their relationship with learning, and create a positive, supportive classroom environment.
This role may involve outreach work outside the main classroom setting. You will build professional, respectful relationships with learners, supporting them to develop essential maths and functional skills, working towards accredited qualifications as well as improved confidence, problem-solving abilities, and employability skills. You will also have the opportunity to design your own schemes of work and lesson plans, with protected planning time and guidance from an advanced practitioner to ensure quality.
We are seeking an individual who can communicate clearly, motivate learners, and bring patience, creativity, and flexibility to their teaching. Classes typically consist of around 12 students and are supported by a student mentor and inclusion practitioners. Sessions are approximately 2.75 hours long, so your lessons will need to be engaging, adaptable, and varied to meet learners’ needs and maintain motivation.
