Personal Assistant Merthyr
We are looking to employ an individual to help a 48‑year‑old man with cerebral palsy, who is a wheelchair user and requires hoisting for all transfers, live independently in his home in Merthyr Tydfil. The role involves personal care support, meal and drink preparation, domestic duties, running a Boccia sports club, looking after a small dog, and performing other reasonable household duties.
Rate of Pay
£15 per hour
Days and Hours of Work
To be discussed and agreed. The work pattern will include weekday, weekend, and night shifts with a 24‑hour cycle (09:30 am–09:30 am) split into day shift (09:30 am–10:30 pm) and sleep‑in shift (10:30 pm–07:30 am).
Tasks and Duties
The post will entail providing support with personal care tasks, meal and drink preparation, domestic duties/household tasks, helping run the Boccia Club, looking after the dog, and any other reasonable duties around the house.
Type of Person Required
- Someone with a good sense of humour and similar interests
- Experience in using manual handling equipment is desirable
- Someone who can confidently drive a mobility van
- Someone with experience would be advantageous but willingness to learn is essential
- Someone who is outgoing but not overpowering
Training
A person with the appropriate attitude and commitment will be able to do the job.
About the Job
This position requires a National Insurance number.
Applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS police check at no cost to the applicant.
