An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated pharmacy technician to join our friendly and dynamic team to provide high quality of aseptic services. You will be part of an expanding team of highly professional and dedicated staff whose aim is to provide an excellent, patient focus service. The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust strives to innovate and improve care to patients. The Trust has recently approved the business case for a new pharmacy aseptic, clinical trials and radiopharmacy facility. The new facility is expected to be in operation mid to end of 2026. The prime function of the unit is the preparation of cytotoxic, monoclonal antibodies and clinical trials in a safe and efficient manner according to Good Manufacturing Practice and National Standards. Our aim is to provide our valued staff with excellent training including Quality Assurance to become skilled, highly competent, and confident in their job roles. We encourage innovative working which includes the development and future proofing of our facilities to meet the growing needs of the service. We promote learning and development within our organisation. We welcome applicants from Secondary care preferably with aseptic experience.
Responsibilities
- Dispense and issue medicines, including aseptic manipulation and compounding of parenteral nutrition for adults and neonates.
- Reconstitute cytotoxic chemotherapy products, including clinical trials and monoclonal antibodies.
- Perform stock control and final accuracy checking of dispensed medicines.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of Pharmacy Technicians, Assistant Technical Officers, students, and support staff.
- Train Pharmacy Technicians, Assistant Officers, students, and support staff under the direction and supervision of Senior and Chief Technicians.
- Work on your own initiative, sometimes under supervision, and support the work of the team.
- Provide the unit with weekend service, early starts, late nights and bank holiday coverage.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications:
- Registered Technician.
- Proven post‑qualification experience in aseptic production.
- Aseptic experience.
- Aseptic supervision experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
- ACPT.
- Additional aseptic supervision experience.
Salary Band
Band 4 to 5 step up will be considered based on experience.
