Procurement Engineer 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)
Location: Oxford
Pay Rate: 26 – 40 per hour
Working Hours: 37 hours per week (7.5 hours per day)
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday with flexible working hours. Full-time office attendance is required during the initial onboarding period. Following this, the role will transition to a hybrid working model with 3 days per week onsite.
Travel: Up to 20% international travel required.
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Procurement Engineer to join a global engineering and technology organisation supporting the development of highly advanced products used worldwide.
This role sits at the intersection of Engineering, Procurement, and Supply Chain, offering the chance to influence sourcing strategies, drive cost optimisation initiatives, and work closely with international suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for a portfolio of technically complex components.
- Conduct cost analysis, should-cost modelling, target costing, and value engineering activities.
- Support supplier selection, development, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Supply Chain teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Provide technical support during supplier negotiations and cost optimisation projects.
- Drive continuous improvement and procurement transformation initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for design-to-cost and design-for-manufacture improvements.
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience within Procurement Engineering, Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Development, or Cost Engineering.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, casting, assemblies, and related technologies.
- Proven experience in cost reduction, value engineering, should-cost analysis, and cost optimisation.
- Experience working with global suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within international teams.
