Job Summary

FY27: Paraeducator Level II, PreK, 4 hrs/10 months, Brooke Grove Elementary School. Application deadline: July 24, 2026.

Time Period

This position will be in effect from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM during the assigned months.

Schedule

• Supports Kindergarten reading from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
• Supports Pre‑K during the middle of the day: 11:00 – 12:30 PM.
• Supports Kindergarten math from 1:00 – 2:00 PM.

Job Overview

Supports kindergarten and pre‑K students ages 3‑5. Provides classroom management, instructional support, and clerical tasks. All new paraeducators are hired at grade 15 and may be promoted to grade 16 after a six‑month probationary period and required training hours.

Physical & Special Requirements

• Frequent bending, walking, and lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
• May be required to work outside hours or shift locations.
• Must accommodate flexible scheduling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies relevant to the assignment.
• Ability to assist in implementing instructional programs and monitoring student behavior.
• Patience and ability to work effectively with children, youth, and staff.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions and perform required tasks.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English.
• Ability to support students with special needs.
• Knowledge of standard computer hardware and software (Google Workspace, MS Office, web‑based tools).
• Ability to quickly learn and meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System.

Education, Training, and Experience

• Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum nine credit‑hours of coursework related to education (e.g., behavior management, instructional strategies).
• Preferred: one year of experience working with students in structured educational settings; alternatively, two to four years of experience working with children/adolescents in structured settings such as daycare, preschool, adult day program, after‑school program, extended day, or school‑based departments.
• Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment with a qualifying score of 455 or higher required.
