Job Description:

An established and growing automotive dealership group is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Technician to join its technical team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of modern vehicles, with a strong focus on advanced vehicle systems and new technologies.

You will work with the latest diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-approved tools, playing a key role in delivering high-quality repairs, first-time fixes, and excellent customer outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Diagnostics: Carry out in-depth fault finding and diagnostic assessments to accurately identify issues and resolve customer concerns efficiently.
  • Maintenance & Repair Work: Complete routine servicing and complex repairs across electric, hybrid, and internal combustion vehicles, including high-voltage systems, powertrain components, and charging systems.
  • Safety Standards: Follow strict health and safety procedures when working on all vehicle types, particularly high-voltage systems.
  • Technical Reporting: Accurately document diagnostic results, repair work, parts usage, and labour times in line with warranty and compliance requirements.
  • Software Updates: Install and verify vehicle software and firmware updates in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Customer Support: Clearly explain technical findings and repair recommendations when required, ensuring customers understand the work being carried out.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer quality standards and internal workshop benchmarks.
  • Parts Coordination: Identify required components and liaise with parts teams to ensure timely repair completion.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with evolving vehicle technology through structured training and certification programmes.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Recognised qualification as a Diagnostic or Senior Vehicle Technician (brand-specific experience beneficial but not essential).
  • Experience: Proven experience in a workshop environment carrying out diagnostics and complex repairs.
  • Technical Ability: Strong understanding of vehicle electrics, electronic systems, and modern diagnostic tools.
  • Safety-Focused: Demonstrated commitment to safe working practices.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical issues clearly and professionally.
  • Team-Oriented: Comfortable working collaboratively within a busy workshop environment.
