Job Overview
The Communications Director is a collaborative, strategic leader who oversees the full scope of internal and external communications. This role leads a skilled team of designers, writers, digital marketers, and content creators to deliver excellence across all platforms, while maintaining brand clarity and a unified voice that reflects the heart of our church.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and lead a ministry‑aligned communications strategy that prioritizes clarity, creativity, and consistency.
- Serve as the chief architect of the church’s brand experience, overseeing the execution of messaging across all channels and ministries.
- Collaborate with executive and ministry leaders to plan and execute campaigns that drive engagement, discipleship, and outreach.
Ministry Partnership (Agency Model)
- Lead the Communications Department as an internal agency serving multiple core ministries.
- Meet regularly with ministry leaders to understand their goals, audiences, and messaging needs.
- Translate ministry vision into actionable communication plans, ensuring each ministry feels supported, heard, and celebrated.
Team Development & Oversight
- Lead, manage, and mentor a multidisciplinary communications team (5+ staff and volunteers) across creative, digital, and content roles.
- Create a culture of collaboration, innovation, and ownership within the team.
- Provide ongoing coaching, clear direction, and accountability to help each team member thrive in their role.
- Prioritize the spiritual health of the team by fostering a Christ‑centered work environment, praying with and for team members, and encouraging rhythms of rest, worship, and discipleship.
- Invest in the personal and professional growth of team members through development plans, training opportunities, and intentional feedback.
Digital Marketing & Storytelling
- Oversee all digital marketing channels including email campaigns, social media advertising, SEO, and paid search.
- Use data and analytics to refine strategies and measure effectiveness.
- Lead the strategy for video storytelling, testimonies, and creative content that showcase life change and God’s work in our church.
Content & Creative Oversight
- Guide the development of all content—from visual assets to copywriting—ensuring alignment with the church’s tone, voice, and theological integrity.
- Oversee weekly service deliverables and special event campaigns.
- Maintain brand standards across print, digital, and on‑campus communication.
Website & Social Media
- Ensure the church website is current, intuitive, and optimized for engagement and next steps.
- Lead a social media strategy that builds community, reaches new people, and reflects the personality of the church.
- Monitor trends and adjust strategies to maximize reach and effectiveness.
Internal Communication
- Equip ministries with templates, training, and tools to communicate clearly and consistently.
- Support internal messaging across staff, volunteers, and congregation through effective channels and rhythms.
Must‑Haves
- A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the mission and values of Keystone Church.
- 5+ years of experience in communications, marketing, or creative leadership—ideally in a church, agency, or nonprofit setting.
- Strong leadership, project management, and interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding of branding, digital strategy, and audience segmentation.
- Strategic thinker with a heart for ministry and a passion for excellence.
- Comfortable switching between high‑level vision and day‑to‑day execution.
