Finatal are currently partnering with a private equity-backed consultancy operating within the data centre ecosystem. The business has strong operational commissioning capability and established relationships with delivery teams, but limited upstream visibility into capital project planning cycles. They are now looking to appoint a senior, network-driven commercial leader to originate opportunities earlier in the project lifecycle and build multi-threaded relationships across the broader developer and advisory ecosystem. This is a first-time commercial leadership hire and represents a strategic shift from reactive, late-stage engagement to proactive, upstream opportunity origination.

Role

  • Reporting into the board, you will build the firm’s upstream market visibility across data centre and infrastructure capital projects, surfacing opportunities at the feasibility and planning stage as well as post-tender.
  • You will originate new project pipelines by leveraging established relationships across developers, EPC contractors, engineering consultancies, and advisory firms.
  • You will expand existing client accounts beyond single-threaded operational relationships, creating multi-stakeholder engagement across commercial, development and advisory functions.
  • Operating in a broker‑style, relationship‑led sales motion, you will navigate complex stakeholder ecosystems including developers, asset owners, consultants, and contractors.
  • Over time, you will shape and formalise the commercial function as the business matures, with scope to scale into broader commercial leadership.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development, market origination or commercial leadership within engineering, construction, infrastructure, or mission‑critical environments.
  • Strong existing network across developers, EPC contractors, and engineering consultancies. Ideally, within the data centre or major capital projects ecosystem.
  • Demonstrable experience originating opportunities in long‑cycle capital project environments. This is not a high‑volume SaaS role.
  • Credibility engaging senior stakeholders, including Development Directors, Capital Projects leads, Commercial Directors and advisory partners.
