The Department for Transport’s Local Transport Statistics team offers an opportunity to lead the full statistical cycle for taxi, private hire, and light rail data. Working in a multidisciplinary team, you will manage data collection, validation, analysis, and publication, improve survey methods, and modernise analytical pipelines using BigQuery and R. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, trusted statistics that inform policy and enhance public understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the publication of Accredited Official Statistics for Light Rail and Tram and Taxi and Private Hire Vehicles.
  • Modernise and improve analytical pipelines for these publications.
  • Manage stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Engage proactively with policy teams, other analysts and external organisations.
  • Drive adoption of Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAP) and automation.
  • Respond to ad-hoc data and analysis requests.
