On behalf of our client, a technically focused engineering and manufacturing business based in Letchworth, we are recruiting a Project Assistant to support live projects and operations, with a clear and structured pathway into Project Management.
This is a development-focused role, aimed at individuals with experience around technical products, a strong engineering / lean mindset, and the ambition to progress into a Junior Project Manager position within 18-24 months.
The Role
- 75% project support / 25% warehouse & manufacturing support
- Supporting Project Managers across technically complex projects
- Coordinating equipment deliveries and raising orders on internal systems
- Managing invoicing, variations, and subcontractor bookings
- Arranging internal handovers and project meetings (agenda & minutes)
- Supporting RAMS, health & safety documentation, and O&M packs
- Handling client queries and customer service emails
- Reviewing and improving processes, procedures, and documentation
Operational / Warehouse Support
- Receiving, labelling, moving, and storing deliveries
- Occasional lifting, pallet movement, and warehouse organisation
- (Candidates must be comfortable with a hands-on, physical element)
Candidate Profile
- Experience working with technical or engineering-led products
- Strong engineering or lean mindset
- Full right to work without the need for sponsorship
- Highly organised with excellent time management
- PM-style thinking: ownership, coordination, accountability
- Strong admin, IT, and numerical skills
- Confident communicator and team player
- Electrical exposure or FLT/telehandler licence beneficial but not essential
Salary, Benefits & Progression
- £35,000 basic salary
- Mobile phone costs covered
- Company-provided lunch for all office-based employees
- Hours: 07:30-17:00 (flexible to suit the candidate)
- Holiday: 22 days plus Bank Holidays
- Increasing by 1 day per year of service (up to a maximum of 25days)
Career Path
- Progression to Junior Project Manager within approximately 18 months
- Salary progression to £50-55k, rising to £65k+ with experience
This is an excellent opportunity for someone technically minded who wants a long-term career in Project Management rather than a static support role.
