The Role
As Finance Director, you will take full ownership of financial strategy, planning, and performance across a high‑profile business unit. You will lead a team of around 30 finance professionals, driving excellence across financial reporting, control, budgeting, and commercial insight. You will work closely with the Group CFO through a dotted-line reporting structure, influencing key decisions at both operational and strategic levels. This role is central to shaping the financial direction of a large, multi‑site, fast-paced organisation.Ideally you will be available at short notice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a finance team of 20, fostering a high‑performance culture.
- Provide strategic financial leadership, supporting long‑term planning and business growth initiatives.
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
- Deliver insightful commercial analysis to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Enhance financial controls, governance, and processes across a complex business environment.
- Partner with senior stakeholders across operations, supply chain, and group functions.
- Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and financial performance.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be a proven finance leader with experience operating in a large, complex, and fast‑paced organisation—ideally within logistics, supply chain, distribution, or a related environment.
You will have:
- Full accounting qualification: ACCA, ACA, or CIMA
- 8+ years PQE, ideally with experience at a senior finance leadership level
- A track record of leading sizeable teams and influencing executive stakeholders
- Strong technical and commercial finance expertise
- The ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving business environment
- Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills
- Available to start at short notice
