We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join the Mental Health and Learning Disability Services within the Highland Health and Social Care Partnership as a Complex Case Planning Manager.

In this pivotal role, you will work collaboratively across health, social care, voluntary and independent sector partners to design, coordinate, and deliver housing and support solutions for individuals with complex needs. You will lead project groups, support transitions planning, and help reduce out‑of‑area placements by developing sustainable, person‑centred options that enable people to live safely and well within their local communities. You will also have responsibility for managing a dedicated budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources, monitoring financial performance, and contributing to organisational savings plans.

You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, bringing professionals together, supporting decision‑making, and ensuring that individuals and families remain at the heart of all planning processes. The role demands excellent communication, emotional resilience, and the ability to navigate sensitive, high‑stakes situations. You will also contribute to policy development and provide leadership in implementing best practice across the service. Some travel across Highland and occasionally across the UK is required to support people placed out of area.

About You

  • Registration with SSSC (as a Social Worker) or NMC (Nurse) or HCPC (Occupational Therapist)
  • Significant experience working with adults with complex care needs
  • Strong understanding of the challenges of cross‑agency working
  • Experience of project leadership and financial management
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Confidence in managing complex, sensitive discussions and planning processes.

Additional Information For Candidates

  • Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
