Overview

Applications are invited for a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Cardiology (Department of Medicine) or Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Department of Medicine) or Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus (Department of Clinical Biochemistry/Institute of Metabolic Science). Based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus this post offers unrivalled opportunity to undertake high quality research within an outstanding academic and clinical environment.

Clinical and Academic Requirements

Applicants must be medically qualified, hold full GMC registration, and demonstrate clinical competence for the award of a National Training Number (NTN or NTN(A)) in Cardiology, Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics or Endocrinology and Diabetes Mellitus. Current NTN holders may apply directly; candidates lacking an NTN must clinically benchmark prior to appointment. Candidates must also hold or have submitted a PhD/DPhil/MD at the time of application and be at the standing required for an appropriate honorary contract of service with the NHS LETB (specialist trainee/LETB). Applicants without a submitted PhD/DPhil/MD will not be considered.

Appointment Details

This is a fixed‑term appointment for a maximum of 4 years or until you obtain CCT (subject to any extension granted by NIHR, up to a maximum of 24 months).

Salary

Salary Scales

  • StR (pre‑2016 contract): £46,675 pa – £80,081 pa
  • Nodal (post‑2016 contract): £65,048 pa – £73,992 pa (ST3 and above)

Contract & Essentials

This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract, integrated between the University and the relevant NHS Trust / Body. You will also be issued with an Honorary Clinical contract by the NHS Trust. If your contract with the NHS Trust is terminated, your employment with the University will also be terminated, and vice versa. You will need GMC registration, Licence to Practice and Medical Defence Cover for the duration of your appointment.
