Overview

Are you currently working in the Custody Environment and have 12 months or more of experience? If you are looking for a new career challenge and enjoy leading a small team of healthcare professionals within custody suites, we want to hear from you.

Compensation

  • Starting salary of £45,000, up to £49,000 once all training is completed.
  • Typical overtime shifts at premium rates can add approximately £3,500.
  • Referral bonus of £500 for each successful referral.

Responsibilities

Your main responsibility will be to lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals, ensuring that detained individuals receive accurate assessments and that their care and wellbeing needs are met. You will manage rostering, cover rota gaps, supervise staff and carry out performance appraisals. You will work closely with the Clinical Lead and senior leaders to ensure local processes comply with National Clinical Governance Standards and the Forces specific needs.

Qualifications

  • Qualified RN Adult, RMN (dual registration), RGN, or Paramedic.
  • Minimum of 12 months previous custody experience and 3 years of post‑qualification experience in settings such as General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Walk‑in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare, Mental Health or Ambulance Service.
  • 3 years UK residency requirement.
  • Current manual driving licence with no restrictions to travel between custody suites or local hospitals.
  • All candidates are subject to police vetting checks.

Training & Development

  • Appraisal and performance management training.
  • Non‑medical independent and supplementary prescribing.
  • Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice in Custody Healthcare.
  • RCUK approved Advanced Life Support training.
  • Mentoring from experienced Clinical Leads.
  • Bespoke ‘Leading Together’ management training course.
  • UKAFN ASET in Forensic Practice within 3 years of recruitment.
  • Examined mental health and substance misuse training.
