Process Improvement Engineer / Continuous Improvement Engineer
Commutable from Sutton Coldfield, Tamworth, Coleshill and Birmingham. Salary: to cGBP52k depending on experience, with dependent on experience and generous benefits.
Our client has been established for almost 40 years and are recognised market leaders in the design and development, manufacture and distribution of an impressive portfolio of solutions for supply throughout the world. As part of an ongoing programme of strategic growth for 2026 and beyond, they are looking to recruit an experienced, hands-on and proactive Continuous Improvement Engineer to complement their manufacturing team. Based near Coleshill and reporting to the Manufacturing Design Engineering Manager, the Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste and improve quality, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies in manufacturing and company processes.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to perform DMAIC activities to eliminate inefficiencies across the business and provide technical guidance to enhance production quality and efficiency.
- Monitor and analyse KPIs to identify areas for improvement and take corrective action where needed.
- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives to optimise operations and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the manufacturing team.
- Establish effective relationships with shift supervisors or process implementers to assess needs and objectives.
- Provide direction to the manufacturing team, instill best practice and lean principles, and train/mentor colleagues in SOPs and new ways of working.
- Run kaizen events while ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Manage projects through to implementation, delivering on time and within budget.
- Improve factory floor layouts and optimise workflow and operator movement.
- Liaise with the Engineering team on specification procurement and the implementation of new plant and equipment, and revisit implemented changes to ensure sustained results.
Qualifications
- At least 4 years of proven experience in a dedicated process improvement manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in lean manufacturing processes and methodologies (Six Sigma, 5S, PDCA, Kaizen, Kanban, etc.).
- Qualified to HND level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with AutoCAD and the MS Office suite.
- Excellent influencing and communication skills at all levels; ability to diagnose problems, measure and analyse data, determine root cause, and implement solutions.
- Results- and data-driven with the ability to sustain change and motivate others.
